I have a corrupt panelmate 4000 that won't communicate with the
PC via the VCP transfer Utility.
I get a "Invalid Frame - possible bad CRCC" when trying to transfer executive or
configuration.

Marty,

We have run across this problem a couple of times with the panelmate series of HMI's (mainly the 2000, 3000 and 4000 series).

Cutler - Hammer and Modicon panelmates use the on-board RTC (real time clock)
Chip to store configuration information for the type of keyboard, memory upgrade,
color or monochrome information. What happens to these units is the chip has a built in battery that is good for about 10-15 years.
Once the battery fails, you not only loose the machine configuration, but you can
also not communicate with the panelmate.

We have a way of restoring the panelmate by installing a new RTC chip and
reprogramming the configuration data into the new chip.

I am sure many panelmates or panelmate CPU boards have been trashed because of this problem..

They can be fixed Marty. Give us a call.
